The name "Acts of the Apostles" was first used by Irenaeus in the late 2nd century. It is not known whether this was an existing name for the book or one invented by Irenaeus; it does seem clear that it was not given by the author, as the word práxeis (deeds, acts) only appears once in the text (Acts 19:18) and there it refers not to the apostles but to deeds confessed by their followers.
According to Wayne Grudem, "the God of the Bible is no abstract deity removed from, and uninterested in his creation". Ultradispensationalism tends to emphasize personal Bible study, a one-on-one relationship with God, and living a Godly life over religious activities.
A god complex may also be associated with mania or a superiority complex. The first person to use the term "god complex" was Ernest Jones (1913–1951). [3] His description, at least in the contents page of Essays in Applied Psycho-Analysis, describes the god complex as belief that one is a god. [4]
The Holy Spirit plays a key role in the Acts of the Apostles, leading to the use of the titles Book of the Holy Spirit or the Acts of the Holy Spirit for that book. [4] [5] The Book of Acts was written by Luke, who also wrote the Gospel of Luke. The book covers the history of the first 30 years of the Christian church.
