Mikael Niemi (born 13 August 1959) is a Swedish author. [1] He wrote the novel Populärmusik från Vittula (in English as Popular music from Vittula).It is the story of a young boy, Matti, growing up in Pajala in the 1960s and is recounted in a humorous way.
Popular Music from Vittula (Swedish: Populärmusik från Vittula; Meänkieli: Poppimysiikkiä Vittulasta; Finnish: Populäärimusiikkia Vittulajänkältä) is a novel by Mikael Niemi. It was published in Sweden in 2000, the English translation by Laurie Thompson followed in 2003. A film based on the book was released in 2004.
