In 2023, Kentucky's Supreme Court upheld Republican-drawn boundaries for the state's congressional districts, finding that while the map represented a partisan gerrymander by the Republican-controlled legislature, the state's constitution does not "explicitly forbid"’ the advancement of partisan interests through redistricting.
On February 13, 1801, the Judiciary Act of 1801, 2 Stat. 89, abolished the U.S. district court in Kentucky, [2] but the repeal of this Act restored the District on March 8, 1802, 2 Stat. 132. [2] The District was subdivided into Eastern and Western Districts on February 12, 1901, by 31 Stat. 781 .

[1] Its county seat is at Williamsburg, [2] though the largest city is Corbin, and the county's District Court (a trial court of limited jurisdiction) sits in both cities.
Kentucky's 29th Senatorial district is one of 38 districts in the Kentucky Senate. Located in the eastern part of the state, it comprises the counties of Bell, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, and Letcher. It has been represented by Scott Madon (R–Pineville) since 2025. [1] As of 2023, the district had a population of 120,597. [2]
