The Lenni Lenape Indians were the earliest occupants of Upper Chichester. They erected several semi-permanent villages in the area tied to fishing and hunting cycles with some farming. The Upper Chichester area was claimed by New Sweden in 1643 and the Dutch in 1654, but both nations were primary interested in trading with the Lenni Lenape Indians.

[8] The township is covered by two ZIP codes: 19014 (Aston Post Office, which also covers parts of Upper Chichester and Bethel townships), and 19063 . Waterways in Aston include a portion of Marcus Hook Creek.
The road enters Upper Chichester Township and reaches a partial cloverleaf interchange with Chichester Avenue near the community of Boothwyn.
