Yung Lean began work on Stardust in 2020, influenced by the work of Phil Spector and his Wall of Sound. [2] A snippet of "Bliss" was released on 30 September 2020 to the rapper's social media. The lead and only single for the project, "Trip", was released on 25 March 2022 along with an accompanying video. [3] [4]

Yung Lean was due to start his 'Starz' tour in late March but this was cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. On 2 April 2020 Yung Lean streamed a 45-minute concert from the back of a truck in an undisclosed location, the stream featuring a mix of songs from previous works, as well as newly-released "Boylife in EU".
