Notable buildings include the County Clerk's Office (1832), the Washington Tavern or Eagle House (ca. 1832), the Arcade (1830s), Piedmont Episcopal Church (1832-1834), the Madison Presbyterian and Methodist churches (1852-1853), Hunton House Hotel (1804, 1849), and the Linn Banks Masonic Lodge (1855).
Visitors may explore the caverns in a 45-minute guided tour. The caverns were found by two farm boys in 1920 after their dog, Dixie, fell through a hole that led to the caves.
The Leesylvania Archeological Site (44PW7), Old Hotel, and Weems-Botts Museum are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Skyline Caverns is a series of geologic caves and a tourist attraction located in Warren County, Virginia, one mile (1.6 km) south of Front Royal. [1] The caverns were discovered by Walter S. Amos, a retired geologist and mineralogist from Winchester, Virginia, on December 17, 1937.
