Shelby is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. Its population was 1,044 as of the 2010 census. The area is near Lay Lake and Waxahatchee Creek. Shelby Iron Park is located at the heart of the area. [3]

According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 11.0 square miles (28 km 2 ), of which 9.9 square miles (26 km 2 ) is land and 1.1 square miles (2.8 km 2 ) (10.21%) is water.
