This was done in order for parishes to work together to evangelize the church in Detroit. On December 9, 2020, it was announced that St. Michael Parish would be grouped with St. Mary Parish Monroe, St. John Parish Monroe, St. Anne Parish Monroe, and St. Charles Parish Newport. This family of parishes was titled “ Monroe Vicariate Family 2.”
St. Joseph Parish started as a mission of St. Mary's in 1894, meeting in a chapel of convenience on Lawrence Street. St. Joseph's was established as an independent parish in 1900, from territory taken in part from St. Mary's and also the parishes of St. Patrick and St. Francis, both in New Haven.
In 2008, Sacred Heart merged with the parishes of St. Lucy–St. Patrick and St. Michael–St. Edward to form the new parish of Mary of Nazareth. [4] Worship services are conducted at Sacred Heart Church on Adelphi Avenue and at St. Patrick Church.

James Michael Reardon (August 31, 1872 – December 12, 1963) was a Canadian-American Catholic priest and professor of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul.A prominent churchman in the first half of the 20th century, he was rector of the Basilica of Saint Mary from 1921 until his death and wrote the definitive history of the diocese.
