The City of Aurora’s updated trash and recycling program offers 5 different collection options through its waste hauler Republic Services.
Refuse, yard waste and curbside recycling service is provided once a week for each residence. The City is divided into 5 sections. Your pick up day depends on the section in which you reside. All waste and recyclables are scheduled to be picked up on the same day.
The City of Aurora encourages residents to look for alternatives to bagging yard waste for collection. Residents who wish to reduce or avoid yard waste costs should use mulching mowers, leaf shredders, or backyard compost piles.
For those times when residents have a large amount of refuse or yard waste that may be too time consuming to use 33 gallon bags or containers, Groot offers temporary containers or a special pickup. Arrangements must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling Groot at 630-892-9294.
Residential trash and recycling pick-up is not a city-provided service. It is the responsibility of the individual residents, homeowners associations, or multifamily building management company to arrange for service with one of the city's permitted trash and recycling haulers.
GARBAGE PICK-UP WILL STILL BE ON REGULAR SCHEDULE FOR TOMORROW AND THE REST OF THE WEEK. If anything changes, we'll let you know immediately!
The free Spring Yard Waste Collection program runs from Monday, April 5 through Friday, April 16. During these two weeks, residents do not have to use waste stickers to dispose of yard waste. Yard waste must be placed in a 30-gallon recyclable paper bag and not exceed 60 pounds.
