2010: The Year We Make Contact (titled on-screen as 2010) is a 1984 American science-fiction film written, produced, shot, and directed by Peter Hyams.The film was made as a sequel to Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey and adapts Arthur C. Clarke's 1982 novel, 2010: Odyssey Two.
The film is a retelling of the last sections of Homer's Odyssey as adapted by Edward Bond, John Collee, and Pasolini. It premiered in the Gala section at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2024, and was theatrically released on December 6, 2024, in the United States by Bleecker Street.
