In 2005, Ligonier Ministries self-published a minor revision to the Reformation Study Bible, now using the Bible text of the English Standard Version. [2] [3] In 2015, a fully revised version of the Reformation Study Bible was released. The notes were expanded into a three column format and the theological and doctrinal content was updated.
Ligonier Ministries (also known as simply Ligonier) is an international Christian discipleship organization headquartered in the greater Orlando, Florida area. Ligonier was founded in 1971 by R. C. Sproul in the Ligonier Valley, Pennsylvania , outside of Pittsburgh.
He currently is chairman of Ligonier Ministries, located in Sanford, Florida, a position he took over from the late Dr. R. C. Sproul. [1] He has taught at Westminster Seminary California since 1981 and previously taught at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, as well as Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Stanford University.
In addition to his books, Gerstner recorded several lengthy audio courses giving a survey of theology, church history, and Christian apologetics, which are distributed through Ligonier Ministries. Gerstner was non-dispensationalist. In 1976, a Festschrift was published in Gerstner's honor.
Sproul's ministry, Ligonier Ministries, made recordings of Gerstner teaching various courses on theology and the Bible. John M. Frame records that Gerstner was Sproul's "main intellectual influence."
