Sheridan is a city in the U.S. state of Wyoming and the county seat of Sheridan County. [4] The city is located halfway between Yellowstone Park and Mount Rushmore by U.S. Route 14 and 16 . It is the principal town of the Sheridan, Wyoming, Micropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Sheridan County.
Story Elementary School is located in the community and serves students in grades K-5. Secondary school students attend Sheridan Junior High School (grades 6-8) and Sheridan High School (grades 9-12), which are located in nearby Sheridan. The airport was founded in June 1947. Construction began in 1946, and airport operations began in 1948. Originally built to satisfy the business transportation needs of Ken Biddle, founder of Biddle Precision Components, a precision machine shop and Sheridan's largest employer, the airport soon grew to support the needs of Northwest Hamilton County.
