Plano is Texas's largest city without an interstate highway. Plano opened a new interchange at Parker Rd. and U.S. 75 in December 2010. The single-point interchange is the first of its kind in Texas. The design is intended to reduce severe congestion at this interchange. According to reports, traffic congestion has been reduced by 50-75%.
Between Fort Worth and Euless, SH 121 is known as Airport Freeway (east of Euless, this name applies to SH 183). East of Coppell, the highway functions as the frontage road for the Sam Rayburn Tollway, a toll road that runs northeast to McKinney. From McKinney to Melissa, the state highway is concurrent with US 75 and the North Central Expressway.
When combined with sister chains Albertsons and Market Street, it is (as of May 2015) the number two supermarket group in the competitive Dallas/Fort Worth area (in terms of market share) behind Walmart. [2] The chain's distribution center is in Roanoke, Texas. [3]
A suburb of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, McKinney is about 32 miles (51 km) north of Dallas. The Census Bureau ranked McKinney as the nation's fourth fastest-growing large city from 2010 to 2019 [7] and determined the city's 2020 population was 195,308. [8]
The study proposed seven stations between the current Parker Road Station and the hypothetical northern terminus Downtown McKinney Station. The extension would be 18 miles (29 km) long, cost between $700 million and $900 million to construct, and is estimated to have 7,000 to 8,000 riders a day by 2045.
