The Rim Trail is a hiking trail [1] located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, located in the U.S. state of Arizona.It is a 13 miles (21 km) trail between the South Kaibab Trailhead west to Hermit's Rest. [2]
The trail begins at Monument Point along the north rim of the canyon on the boundary of the National Park, about 20 miles (32 km) west of the park services at North Rim, Arizona. Access to the trailhead is over 35 miles (56 km) of forest roads made of graded dirt, and a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended for travel in the area.

Portions of the Cottonwood Campground, 4,000 feet (1,200 m) below rim, are visible from the end of the trail. Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim is visible about 10 miles (16 km) away across the canyon. There is no water available on trail. Hikers and tourists should stay off the trail when thunderstorms are in the area.
Over on the North Rim (an almost four-hour drive from the South Rim), the Grand Canyon Lodge and the North Rim Campground are both open; the campground closes for the season on October 15.
