Blue Knob State Park is a 6,128-acre (2,480 ha) Pennsylvania state park in Kimmel, Lincoln, and Pavia townships in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. [2] The average annual snowfall at the park is about 12 feet (370 cm). The park is named for Blue Knob, the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania at 3,146 feet (959 m). [2]
The state record snowfall of 225 inches (5,700 mm) was recorded on Blue Knob during the winter of 1890–91. In December 1890 alone, 86 inches (2,200 mm) fell on the mountain. Average snowfall is about 12 feet (3.7 m) annually, while temperatures usually are 10 to 12 °F (5.6 to 6.7 °C) cooler than in the surrounding towns.
Pavia Township is located in the northwestern corner of Bedford County, bordered to the west by Cambria County and to the north by Blair County.A large portion of the township is occupied by Blue Knob State Park, including the 3,130-foot (950 m) summit of Blue Knob, the second highest peak in Pennsylvania.
Blue Knob is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Blair County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. [2] The CDP is in southwestern Blair County, at the southern end of Juniata Township.
