Barnes is best known for his roles as Sergeant First Class Hector Williams in the CBS military action television series The Unit, the archangel Raphael in Supernatural and Deputy Chief Christian Garland in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Sergeant First Class Hector Lucian Williams (United States Army, call sign: Hammerhead) (portrayed by Demore Barnes) was a Unit operator assigned to Alpha Team of the 1st Special Actions Group (official cover as the "303rd Logistical Studies Group"). He was an experienced marksman, and frequently served as a sharpshooter for the team.
Jonas, Bob, and Charles return to Washington, D.C., and rendezvous with Colonel Ryan. They try to find the person responsible for the dismantling of the Unit and try to clear their name. Meanwhile Hector is being transported to a Senate subcommittee hearing to testify against the Unit and Mack is held at a secret prison.
The first season of The Unit originally aired between March 7, 2006 and May 16, 2006, it introduces the members of The Unit and their families. As the season progresses various plots and story arcs are explored, such as Tiffy Gerhardt's affair with Colonel Tom Ryan and Molly Blane's mission to find the army widow who conned her out of her savings.
Blane brings Bob Brown, the newest member of the unit, to meet Ron Cheals, a former member of the unit. Jonas describes Cheals as having gone from being "the best shot in the unit to the best gunsmith in the world." It is implied that Cheals' injury, as evidenced by his use of a wheelchair, was the reason for the end of his service with the Unit.
The second season of The Unit originally aired between September 19, 2006 and May 8, 2007; it introduces several new characters to the series. Tiffy has trouble with the law when she covers for Colonel Ryan's wife, Charlotte, and The Unit is investigated by the CIA over infractions that could result in criminal charges.
