The Atmel AVR instruction set is the machine language for the Atmel AVR, a modified Harvard architecture 8-bit RISC single chip microcontroller which was developed by Atmel in 1996. The AVR was one of the first microcontroller families to use on-chip flash memory for program storage.
The Atmel ICE is the currently supported inexpensive tool to program and debug all AVR devices (unlike the AVRISP/AVRISP mkII, Dragon, etc. discussed below). It connects to and receives power from a PC via USB, and supports JTAG , PDI , aWire , debugWIRE , SPI , SWD , TPI , and UPDI (the Microchip Unified Program and Debug Interface) interfaces.
AVR32 is a 32-bit RISC microcontroller architecture produced by Atmel. The microcontroller architecture was designed by a handful of people educated at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology , including lead designer Øyvind Strøm and CPU architect Erik Renno in Atmel's Norwegian design center.
SAMS70 series, (2015) Atmel announced the SAM S70 series based on the ARM Cortex-M7. [18] SAME70 series, (2015) Atmel announced the SAM S70 series based on the ARM Cortex-M7. [18] SAMV70 series, (2015) Atmel announced the SAM S70 series based on the ARM Cortex-M7, which is the first Atmel chip automotive grade with a Cortex-M7 core. [19]
TWI: Many of Atmels microcontrollers contain built-in support for interfacing to a two-wire bus, called Two-Wire Interface. This is essentially the same thing as the I²C interface by Philips, but that term is avoided in Atmel's documentation due to trademark issues. USI: Universal Serial Interface (not to be confused with USB). The USI is a ...
Atmel AVR, used in a variety of products ranging from Xbox handheld controllers and the Arduino open-source microcontroller platform to BMW cars. RISC-V , the current iteration of Berkeley's open standard RISC ISA, with 32- or 64-bit address spaces , a small core integer instruction set, and an experimental "Compressed" ISA for code density and ...
debugWIRE is supported by all modern hardware debuggers from Microchip. This includes Atmel-ICE, [3] JTAGICE3, AVR Dragon, JTAGICE mkII, and SNAP. [4] It is also possible to build a cheap debugWIRE hardware debugger [5] based on an open-source Arduino sketch, [6] using a general USB-Serial adaptor or ATtiny85 board, [7] or a CH552 microcontroller.
MIPS, an acronym for Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages, was a research project conducted by John L. Hennessy at Stanford University between 1981 and 1984. . MIPS investigated a type of instruction set architecture (ISA) now called reduced instruction set computer (RISC), its implementation as a microprocessor with very large scale integration (VLSI) semiconductor technology ...
