The ALDC and Candy Apples Dance Center are to perform at the upcoming competition for the first time this season. Abby rehearses a group routine entitled "Bad Apples" reflecting Abby's relationship with Cathy. Brooke is given a solo to compete in the Junior Division and is scheduled to compete head-to-head against one of the Candy Apples' dancers.
The ALDC, Candy Apples and the Lukasiak's travel to nationals. The dancers all perform very well, and Lilliana wins the 11 & under category with Elliana coming in 2nd place. Kalani wins the 12 & over category with Brynn placing the 3rd. The ALDC group wins 1st place, with the Candy Apples coming in 4th.
That is, until Abby's nemesis, Cathy from the Candy Apples, returns with a surprise choreographer, Erin Babbs from the Murrieta Dance Project, who's sure to rattle the ALDC's confidence. Abby invites Ashlee and her daughter Brynn to come dance at the ALDC and quickly praises her as the next Maddie, which the original moms do not appreciate.
The mothers stage a protest to get Kelly to return, leading Abby to completely create a new competition team. The old team, including Kelly, Brooke, and Paige, eventually reunites and becomes Abby's competition team again. This season introduces many new dance moms and dancers to both the Abby Lee Dance Company and Candy Apples Dance Center.
