The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is a major public transportation agency based in Houston, Texas, United States.It operates bus, light rail, bus rapid transit, HOV and HOT lanes, and paratransit service (under the name METROLift) in the city as well as most of Harris County.
The LAX City Bus Center, is located about a one-half mile (0.80 km) from the Central Terminal Area on 96th Street, east of Sepulveda Boulevard. LAX Shuttle route C offers free connections between the LAX City Bus Center and the Central Terminal Area, starting at terminal 1, and servicing the terminals in a counter clockwise direction. The county would lease its buses to the Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority (MSBA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The federal government would pay $9 million, which was about two-thirds of the capital cost. 18 new buses were ordered for $40,000 each. [14] The MSBA started operating the system in June 1973.
The first motor bus hit the San Diego area streets in 1922, operating between National City and Chula Vista. Over the next two decades, the rail lines would gradually be replaced by motor buses, and on April 24, 1949, the last rail service was discontinued, making San Diego the first major city in California to convert to an all-bus system.
