The Self Winding Clock Company clock movement was patented by one of the company founders, Chester Henry Pond (1844–1912) in 1884 (Patent No. 308,521). Pond was also a principal in the Gamewell Fire Alarm-Telegraph Company. [2] He was an accomplished instrument maker and a pioneer in the developing field of electricity.
The Seth Thomas Clock Company was founded by Seth Thomas in Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut, and began producing clocks in 1813. [1] It was incorporated as the "Seth Thomas Clock Company" in 1853.
