Bob Drake (born December 6, 1957) is an American multi-instrumentalist musician and recording engineer. He was a founding member of the avant-rock band Thinking Plague in the early 1980s, and a member of the 5uu's , Hail and The Science Group (with Chris Cutler , Stevan Kovacs Tickmayer and Fred Frith ).
Thinking Plague is an American avant-garde progressive rock group founded in 1982 by guitarist/composer Mike Johnson and bass guitarist/drummer Bob Drake.Based in Denver, Colorado, the band has been active off and on since 1982, taking on a number of musicians over the years.
The CD was compiled by Chris Cutler and mastered by Bob Drake at Studio Midi-Pyrenees in France in October 2019. In September 2008 Recommended Records released The Recommended Sampler 1982 – 25th Anniversary Edition, a fully remastered (by Bob Drake) reissue of the original double-LP on a double-CD. It coincided with the label's 30th anniversary and included a copy of the very first handwritten Recommended catalogue plus other memorabilia and trivia.
The remastering was done by Bob Drake in March 2006. An accompanying booklet included a 1977 interview with Henry Cow in Sweden , and a seven-day extract from the "November/December 1977 Road Diary" by Chris Cutler.
