    No kind of German pointer should ever be kept as a companion dog, therefore I highly recommend leaving that nonsense out of the opening paragraph. They're proper gun dogs, and in Germany, no breeder will even sell one to you unless you're planning to hunt with them. Same goes for English pointers too, by the way.
