The institution became a Christian liberal arts college in 1972 and became a state-approved university in 1999. Today Cornerstone University and Cornerstone Theological Seminary share a 123-acre (0.50 km 2 ) campus four miles (6 km) east of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan .

Joseph M. Stowell III (born February 7, 1944) retired as the president of Cornerstone University in May 2021, and is author of over 20 Christian books. He is a graduate of Cedarville University and Dallas Theological Seminary (1970) [1] and was honored with a Doctor of Divinity degree from The Master's College in 1987.
WCSG began broadcasting after five years of preparation on June 9, 1973, with an easy listening and fine arts format. [2] In 1981, WCSG's programming changed to a primarily Christian format and three years later, the station began broadcasting inspirational programming and music twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, before evolving into its present Christian AC-based format.
