The population was 117,635 at the 2020 census, [4] making it the 2nd most populous city in the county and Idaho after Boise, the state capital. Upon crossing Victory Road, SH-69 enters the city limits of Meridian as it continues north along South Meridian Road. Another mile (1.6 km) north, SH-69 crosses Overland Road, then crosses over Tenmile Creek , and finally and promptly reaches its northern terminus at a single-point urban interchange with I-84/US 30/SH-55, I-84 exit 44.
By the time Idaho was admitted to the Union as the 43rd state in 1890, a further eight counties had been created, bringing the total to 18. After Canyon, Fremont and Bannock Counties had been created, Alturas and Logan Counties were merged to form Blaine County in March 1895; Lincoln County was formed out of Blaine County later the same month.
The highway continues east to Nampa (mostly as Karcher Road), where it meets Interstate 84 and US-30. The highway is cosigned with those routes as it heads eastward to Meridian. SH-55 turns northward at Eagle Road and crosses the Boise River near Eagle. The junction with SH-44 is in Eagle, where the routes are briefly cosigned.
As the two routes approach Boise, they intersect three state highways: State Highway 16 (SH-16), SH-55 on the Eagle–Boise city line, and SH-44 in Garden City. In Boise, as US-26 and US-20 merge eastward onto I-184 , the Interstate designation ends there but the freeway ends in about 0.75 miles (1.21 km).
US-95 continues into Idaho from southeastern Oregon as an undivided two-lane highway for the majority of its length. As it is the state's primary north–south highway, Idaho is in the process of widening US-95 to an Interstate-style divided four-lane highway, from the Oregon state line in the southwest to Eastport at the northern border with Canada at Kingsgate, British Columbia.
Interstate 15 (I-15) is a part of the Interstate Highway System that runs from San Diego, California, to Sweetgrass, Montana. In Idaho, the Interstate Highway runs exactly 196 miles (315 km) from the Utah state line near Woodruff north to the Montana state line at Monida Pass.
