[1] While England still participates in junior hockey tournaments, in most IIHF tournaments, English players are part of the Great Britain national ice hockey team.
The British women's national ice hockey team was founded in 1989 and competed in the IIHF European Championships until 1996. Since then the team has competed in the IIHF World Women's Championships finishing in 23rd place (2nd in Division IIA) in 2018. They currently sit 23rd in the world rankings just one place lower than their male counterparts.
