Ilsandong District (Korean: 일산동구; RR: Ilsandong-gu) is a district in Goyang, South Korea. Ilsan -gu was divided into Ilsandong District, meaning 'east of Ilsan' and Ilsanseo District , meaning 'west', on May 16, 2005.
The festival started as Goyang Korea Flower Show in 1991, and was held as an annual, domestic event until 1996. From 1997 to 2012, the Goyang International Flower Festival was held every three years. Since 2013, it returned to being held annually. [ 5 ]
Goyang International Flower Festival Floricultural industry sprang up in the early 1970s fostering flower culture in Korea. Goyang became one of the most famous cities for its floricultural industry and its flower show grew into a horticultural event representing Korea and a venue for trading among participants at home and from abroad.
Formerly part of Goyang, Yeouido-dong was formed as a separate entity in 1971. [12] In 1975 the new National Assembly Building opened on the western side of the island. In 1985 the 63 building was completed and was the tallest and most well-known building in the country for many years.
