Granite Island Recreation Park is a protected area including all of Granite Island which is about 0.6 kilometres (0.37 miles) south-east of Victor Harbor in South Australia and about 120 kilometres (75 miles) south of Adelaide. It is reported as being 'the most visited park in South Australia'. [5]
Granite Island, also known by the Ramindjeri people as Nulcoowarra, [1] is a small island next to Victor Harbor, South Australia, about 80 km south of South Australia's capital city, Adelaide. Although there are no permanent residents, the island has buildings and shelters, including a cafe.
The following protected areas exist within the bay’s waters: the Granite Island Recreation Park, the Pullen Island Conservation Park and the West Island Conservation Park, while the bay’s waters are within the boundaries of the Encounter Marine Park. The following protected areas adjoin the shores of the bay: the Coorong National Park.
The facility is located within a Habitat Protection Zone of the Encounter Marine Park [1] and opened to the public on 2 September 2017. [2] Since 2019 it has been open intermittently while work has been undertaken on the causeway to Granite Island and owing to COVID19 restrictions in 2020.

This park protecting four lakes near the Canada–US border is a site for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Granite Island is a 2.5-acre (1.0 ha) island in Lake Superior located about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. Built upon it is the Granite Island Lighthouse , also known as Granite Island Light Station, [ 1 ] "one of the oldest surviving lighthouses on Lake Superior". [ 2 ]
