Santa Fe is an unincorporated community in southeastern Monroe County, Missouri, United States. [1] It is located approximately twenty-five miles north of Mexico, near the southern edge of Mark Twain Lake. Santa Fe was founded in 1836 and named for Santa Fe, New Mexico. [2] [3] The post office at Santa Fe has been in operation since 1854. [4]
Monroe County was first carried by a Republican in 1976 by John Danforth in the U.S. Senate race. In 1984, Ronald Reagan became the first Republican candidate for president to win the county.
