Located in the Silver Spring CDP, Lyttonsville is bordered by East-West Highway (Maryland Route 410) to the south, beyond which is the neighborhood of Rock Creek Forest and, further south, Washington, D.C. Rock Creek Park and Chevy Chase are located to the west, Forest Glen Park to the north, and Woodside and Downtown Silver Spring to the east.
Forest Glen Park and the Forest Inn, at present day National Park Seminary, were developed by the Forest Glen Improvement Company in 1887. Woodside Urban Park is a 2.3-acre recreational park located on the southern edge of the neighborhood. The park was renovated and expanded in 2010 and contains picnic tables, a large children's play area, tennis courts, a bronze statue of a man on a unicycle, and a water fountain that provides a soothing counterpoint to busy Georgia Avenue.
