Nagarjuna in 2010. Nagarjuna is an Indian actor and producer who works in the Telugu cinema. He has acted in over 90 films as a lead actor as well as playing supporting and cameo roles, including Hindi and Tamil cinema. He has received nine state Nandi Awards, three Filmfare Awards South, and one Special Mention at the National Film Awards.

Vaidyanath Mishra (11 June 1911 – 5 November 1998), better known by his pen name Nagarjun, was a Hindi and Maithili poet who has also penned a number of novels, short stories, literary biographies and travelogues, and was known as Janakavi- the People's Poet.
The film was simultaneously made in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages. In the Kannada version, Ravichandran played the lead role, while Nagarjuna starred in the Telugu version, and Rajinikanth played the lead role in both the Tamil and Hindi versions. The film's production began after Nagarjuna expressed interest in collaborating with Krishna Vamsi, who was impressed after watching the song sequences of Krishna Vamsi's debut film Gulabi (1995). Initially, Krishna Vamsi had developed an action-oriented script, but following feedback from Gulabi , he shifted focus to a family-oriented drama.
