You could add standard word lists on any topic included in the AtoZ themes section - animals, insects, plants, summer fun, presidents, holidays, sports, hobbies, family words, synonyms, antonyms, parts of speech, history eras, back to school words, easily misspelled words ... one easy way to come up with lists might be to use the game Outburst ...
0. Sep 19, 2003. Access your control panel and go to "fonts". Once that is opened go to file and scroll down to "install new fonts". Follow the prompts at that point and the new font will go directly into the font folder for use with you word processing. (This may be slightly different according to your OS)
I use www.handwritingworksheets.com - it is small though. I actually start the year by using our K handwriting paper and writing each child's name on a separate page, copying a few of each, then rewriting their name in highlighter for them to copy- it is time consuming, but that way I can make it as big or small as I need to; and I can make extra for the kids who need extra practice!
I actually took a 3 month course in college too (required by the ed. dept. but sent off to Zaner-Bloser). My kids, who are in 2nd grade, do a handwriting page every day. Monday-Thursday are half sheets, and Friday is a full sheet (which also is a great direction sheet). I use the Evan-Moor's Daily Handwriting Practice:Traditional Manuscript book.
alphabetical word wall, daily rote practice, maybe 5 words a week (at, and, be, can, do, etc.)? 3. weekly introduction of a vowel sound and rime (ex. first week introuduce short /a/ and -ab), maybe using those dry erase posters, ex. one's a picture of a cab and it has _ab at the top and kids take turns adding letters to make different -ab words
The elevatd surface encourages wrist stabalization and correct positioning, the small writing tools encourage a tripod grip, and the blank paper stimulates the imagination.
