The original buildings on Caulfield Campus's current site, circa 1910. Joseph Henry Davies, who had served as a missionary in southern India, purchased the site for the school — it was adjacent to the Elsternwick railway station, and had been a small lolly shop [3] — for £25 on 16 April and employed his sister and two brothers as teachers.

Stephen Hibbert Newton (born 25 April 1955) AO is an Australian teacher, who served as Principal of Caulfield Grammar School (1993–2011) and Hamilton College (1986–1993) in Victoria. [1] Stephen Hibbert Newton was born in Melbourne on 25 April 1955 to Hibbert Richard Newton and Judith Mary Newton (née Williams).
The AGSV was founded in 1920 to provide an alternative to the Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS). There were nine founding member schools: All Saints Grammar School, Brighton Grammar School, Camberwell Grammar School, Caulfield Grammar School, Haileybury College, Ivanhoe Grammar School, Malvern Grammar School, St Thomas College and Trinity Grammar School.
He was educated at Caulfield Grammar School from 1916 to 1927 [7] —representing the school in both swimming [8] and athletics [9] over a number of years—where he was both School Captain and Dux of School in 1926.
