The Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery was formally and officially declared as a National Historical Landmark in 1981 by virtue of Presidential Decree no. 260, enacted August 1, 1973 with amendments by Administrative Order 1505, dated June 11, 1978. [3] Since the declaration, no more burials were allowed in the cemetery. [1]
