I've been interested in the .257 Roberts for a long time and finally found one last week online, bought it last week, and took delivery this week. It's the Ruger M77 Hawkeye (blued steel, walnut stock, engraved floorplate) in .257 Roberts and this is one nice rifle!

If you search Jack O'Connor's rifle sale at Heritage auctions, the Pachmayr one sold there a few years back, for $15,700 or there abouts. Warren Page's Ole Betsy sold in the same auction. This 257 kind of plain Jane for sure. With the description, there's some provenance, showing it being sold to a Mr Greevy, I think, just before O'Connor died.
Savage will make you a 257 Roberts. Call 800-370-0708, ext 6, and ask for Effie Sullivan. I have a blue, short action, left-hand with AccuTrigger and AccuStock that I really, really like. With minimal load development it puts 6- 100 gr Nosler Partitions into 1.1 inches at 100 yds with a healthy dose of H-4831SC.
I purchased an Arisaka custom rifle for a song at a gun show. After the first shot I realized it was a wild cat and had the gunsmith check the chamber. A previuos owner had rechambered to 6.5x257 Roberts. I ordered a $125.00 set of dies from RCBS, and reloaded using 6.5x55 data to start. I got zero accuracy and so I rebeded and refloated the rfle.
I have found a Remington 760 in the 257 Roberts. The rifle is in 98-99 % owed by the same person for over 40 years. It has sat un-fired for the last 20 some years. He is willing to sell me the rifle and told me to make an offer. I want to make a fair offer and was wondering what they are ...
NULA Model 20 .257 Roberts. 22" matte stainless barrel with .578" muzzle diameter. Stock has 13" length of pull and is painted in an oak leaf camo pattern. Paint finish has a textured, light sand paper finish. Trigger is tuned to an extremely crisp 3#. Rifle balances 1/2" in front of the front action screw. Fit and finish is superior.
Wish someone would make a lightweight deer rifle that shoots standard 120grain factory ammo well (not BT's or HP's). There seems to be a lot of interest in a caliber that likes something between 100 and 130 grain bullets. The Roberts would be it (unless the 260 ammo loads come around) so I feel your pain if you are stuck with shooting 100 grainers.
