History of Highland Park. In 1837, after a savage Indian battle, the remnants of a Texas Ranger scouting expedition camped in a lovely spot along “the creek with all the turtles.” These survivors were the first recorded Anglo-Americans in the area that is now known as Highland Park.
Highland Park has approximately 8,900 residents. The Town was named "Highland Park" because of its higher elevation compared to the surrounding area and because 20% of developed land was reserved for park space. The Town is approximately 2 miles from Love Field Airport.

Location. The Town of Highland Park is located approximately 3 miles north of the center of Dallas. The Highland Park Town Hall is located at 4700 Drexel Drive, just northeast of the intersection of Drexel Drive and Euclid Avenue.

History. Highland Park was incorporated in 1915 after Dallas chose not to annex it. Dallas later attempted to annex Highland Park, but the Town had already formed its own government and infrastructure.
