I was alarmed at the high GGT level, and immediately started abstaining from alcohol. After 1 month of abstention, my GGT came down to 164. After a second month of abstention, my GGT had come down to 137. I'm now at 11 weeks of abstention, and will had new labs drawn in 2 weeks. I had a liver ultrasound performed, which showed mild fatty liver.

GGT, as well as ALT/AST stubbornly in triple digits (over 100) is concerning, and should be followed and the liver evaluated with ultrasound. Alcohol consumption can bump GGT high, but it should fall to normal with abstinence in a month or so. A stubborn and substantial GGT elevation can indicate alcoholic disease.
As I have been quite worried about this I have been looking online and found that low sodium can cause the fluid retention hence the swollen ankles and an inbalance of electrolytes can cause the calf cramps but I doubt this could be connected to the elevated liver enzymes.
