How to start. - Separate the disaster (Dark) and Point/Instant Cards (/Light) - If playing with the Hazard expansion, separate the Hazard (Black) cards, and place one hazard token on space 20 of the escape route of every board. - Each player chooses one of the Dino boards, and the corresponding Dino Piece.
Happy Little Dinosaurs question about instant cards and overall scoring. This felt simple until we started playing and certain situations arose that made us question if we were playing correctly, mostly with instant cards. The instructions don’t specifically mention how many cards you can commit per scoring round or the order in which to play ...
We tried playing Instant cards as "free for all", where people just throw them down in any order, but this leads to a situation where EVERYONE wants to play last. When someone is holding the Inversion, they want to go last: if they don't go last, their Inversion can be undone by someone Boosting and/or Sapping the inverted score to "re-invert ...
Happy little dinosaurs? So we set up, but what to do after that?? We put the cards out and some have effects some have none and what the hell do we do? The rules are terrible and puts me off board games in general. The Unstable games rules always seem to fall between bad and meh. Check the rules section of the BGG forums for the game here.
TL;DR: Both were fun, but Doomlings was like a confusing party game, Happy Little Dinosaurs was more like a comedic game for friends. HLD is my preference. Doomlings has more cards, more interactions, more variety, but that led to inconsistency and surprises. There were fun moments, but it felt like the cards determined how the game went.
Need help deciding which Happy Little Dinosaurs Expansion to buy. The three options I see on Amazon are 5-6 player expansion pack, Perils of Puberty, Dating Dinosaurs; Also do the last 2 “expansions” make it a 5-6 player game or is it still just 2-4? Pretty sure just the 5-6 expansion allows more players, it includes 2 more dinosaurs. I got ...
Box big enough for Happy Little Dinosaurs and it's expansions. I was gifted Happy Little Dinosaurs and its expansions for Christmas. But, now I'm looking for a storage device that keeps everything in one place. I know I could use a plastic tub or rubber bands or something less elegant.
There are two ways to win: Be the last dinosaur remaining. Get to 50 points. At the start of the game, everyone takes X cards (i dont remember how many) from the regular deck (not the disaster deck). The game is played in rounds. Each round goes like this: Flip a disaster card. Loser of the round takes the disaster.
question about expansion back. I recently bought the Happy Little Dinosaurs 5-6 players expansion pack because it looked fun, but I didn't know it's not the original game, are you able to play with just the expansion pack? You need the base game. You don't have all the cards to play, nor is it fun to only play 2 player.
Really enjoying Doomlings. My wife and I recently have wanted to expand our game collection to include more than the usual Scrabble, UNO, classics etc. We picked up Doomlings on a whim for $20 at a department store. Since then we’ve probably played 2-3 games every night for two weeks, and have introduced it to friends. We simply love it.
