António da Costa Paiva, Baron of Castelo de Paiva, CvC, CvNSC (Porto, 12 October 1806 - São Pedro, Funchal, 4 June 1879) was a Portuguese botanist, naturalist, doctor, teacher and nobleman. He was also the first director of the Porto Botanical Garden .
ISEP was founded by the minister Fontes Pereira de Melo in 1852 as Escola Industrial do Porto (Porto School of Industry) to support the industrialization of Portugal, and some time later upgraded to Instituto Industrial do Porto (Porto Institute of Industry). António Rodrigo Pinto da Silva (c. 1980). António Rodrigo Pinto da Silva (Porto, 13 March 1912 – Lisbon, 28 September 1992), often referred to as A.R. Pinto da Silva or P. Silva, was a Portuguese botanist who distinguished himself as a taxonomist and phytosociologist when he collaborated with Swiss botanist Josias Braun-Blanquet and also with Pierre Dansereau.
