It is a one-story log house built in 1772. It is built of chestnut logs and covered with wood clapboards. Attached to the rear is a 19th-century frame addition. It was built by Michael Kern, perhaps, the first permanent settler of what is now Morgantown. When Lord Dunmore's War started in 1774, Kern built a stockaded fort around his cabin. [2]

Middle Mountain Cabins are a set of three historic cabins located in the Monongahela National Forest near Wymer, Randolph County, West Virginia. They were built in 1931, and consist of the Main Cabin and Cabins 1 and 2. The Main Cabin is a one-story, rectangular, stained log building measuring approximately 22 feet by 20 feet.
Initially developed as a state forest in 1926. One of West Virginia's first CCC camps was established here in 1933. The largest of West Virginia's state parks, it contains the 11-acre (4 ha) Watoga Lake. A historic district containing the park's 103 CCC resources is listed on the NRHP. The district includes 409 contributing buildings, 4 contributing structures, and 2 contributing objects in a primarily residential area of the Greenmount neighborhood of Morgantown. Most of the dwellings were built between 1901 and 1925 and are of frame construction with brick or wood facades, one- to 2 + 1 ⁄ 2 stories high with gable fronts.
Opened in 1933, the 6,115-acre (2,475 ha) [2] Cacapon Resort State Park is located on the eastern slopes of Cacapon Mountain in Morgan County, West Virginia, USA. Panorama Overlook , at the southern end of the park and 2,320 feet (710 m) above sea level, is the highest point in the park and in Morgan County.
