Glenwood Memorial Gardens is a 70-acre lawn cemetery in Broomall, Pennsylvania. It was originally established in 1849 as a rural cemetery on 20 acres in North Philadelphia as Glenwood Cemetery. Over 700 Union army and Confederate States Army soldiers who died in local hospitals during the American Civil War were buried in the old Glenwood Cemetery.

This crossroads community was renamed for the post office established to honor John Martin Broomall, [4] a 19th-century U.S. congressman, Electoral College member (at Ulysses S. Grant's 1872 presidential election), and Chester Gas Company president from Upper Chichester Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Historical Commission, the predecessor to the PHMC, launched the program. The markers were redesigned in 1945–46 to make them easier to read from a passing car. Large cast aluminum markers were mounted on poles along a street or road, close to where a landmark was located, a person lived or worked, or an event occurred.

Chester County History Center (CCHC), formerly the Chester County Historical Society, [3] is a nonprofit historical society, founded in 1893, dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting the history of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding area.
