The extended cab grew on me, and I don't regret the purchase, but I have always been a fan of short bed regular cab pickups having previously owned a 70 Ford F100 Ranger XLT, 87 Mazda B2200 SE5, 93 Ford Ranger Splash and a 02 Chevrolet S10 LS short beds.

Picked up tacoma after 3 weeks in shop. Bottom line: ITS THE LIFT KIT.. According to Toyota the shorter body of the regular cab creates a larger angle between the differential and drive shaft (2 degrees) and that is the cause of all the roaring/grinding noise that caused them to completely replace the transmission, transfer case, and rear axle.

I had an interesting conversation with a guy I go to church with about Regular Cab small trucks. As most of us know 2014 was the last model year for the Tacoma to have a Regular Cab. Now all the midsized trucks are extended or crew cabs.. I own a Regular Cab S10 so I know the unique elements of owning a regular cab small truck.
