Tylee Craft (October 1, 2001 – October 12, 2024) was an American college football player who competed as a wide receiver for the University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels. [2] Known for his involvement on special teams and offensive plays, Craft joined UNC in 2020 after graduating from Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina .
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina football player Tylee Craft died Saturday morning from a rare form of lung cancer, coach Mack Brown said. Brown made the announcement in his postgame news conference following the Tar Heels’ loss to Georgia Tech. Craft was 23. “This young man fought so hard for his two and a half years,” Brown said.
He had three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons from 1980 to 1982. Despite injuries in 1981, he still rushed for 1,015 yards in just seven games. He rushed for more than 100 yards in a game on 19 occasions. In one of the most memorable games in UNC football history, Bryant scored six touchdowns against East Carolina University in 1981.
