The present area of Johor Bahru was originally known as Tanjung Puteri, and was a fishing village of the Malays. Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim then renamed Tanjung Puteri to Iskandar Puteri upon his arrival to the area in 1858, after acquiring the territory from Sultan Ali. [4]

The Johor Bahru Conurbation, also known as the Southern Conurbation (Malay: Konurbasi Selatan; Jawi: كونورباسي سلاتن) in the National Physical Plan, [1] [2] is the built-up urban or metropolitan area within and around Johor Bahru in the Malaysian state of Johor, and roughly corresponds to the Iskandar Malaysia corridor.
From Kluang to Desaru about 2-3 hours drive. From JB Taman Mount Austin area takes around 30-40 minutes. As of June 2023, a new ferry terminal has been in operation at Desaru. Operating on five days of each week, it hosts ferry services from Tanah Merah, Singapore. Inclement weather may divert ferry services to Tanjung Pengelih instead. [2]
