The Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología (MUNAE; National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology) is a national museum of Guatemala, dedicated to the conservation of archaeological and ethnological artifacts and research into Guatemala's history and cultural heritage. The museum is located in Guatemala City, at Finca La Aurora.

The museum is named after the Popol Vuh, a book written soon after the Spanish conquest of Guatemala. It narrates myths and pre-Columbian history of the Quiche, whose kings dominated great part of the Western plateau of Guatemala. [1] The collection at the Popol Vuh Museum includes many objects related to the narratives of the Popol Vuh book.
The current museum was established in 1975. The history of the Museo Nacional de Arte Moderno "Carlos Mérida" has its root in the Museo Nacional de Historia y Bellas Artes (national museum of history and fine arts), which was opened on November 10, 1934, and accredited by government on January 15, 1935.
