San Jose producer Traxamillion is largely considered the first producer to create hyphy style music, having produced songs such as Keak Da Sneak's "Super Hyphy", which established the term hyphy. An individual is said to "get hyphy" when they dance in an overstated, fast-paced and ridiculous manner, or if they get overloud with other people.

Back n da Hood is a 1992 EP by hyphy Bay Area rapper Mac Dre. It was recorded live from the Fresno County Jail and USP Lompoc over the phone. Its lyrics are about life in Fresno County Jail, and about himself in early life. [1] [2] The original issue of this album was only on cassette.
