The Charger has the 2.7 for fleet and rental cars.I just talked to a salesman at Compusa and he had a 06 Charger with a 2.7.I read that they were going to have the 2.7 for the 07 model.If you see a Charger with no badge on the fenders,thats the ones with the 2.7.If you go on the Dodge website and look under Charger ,it shows the 2.7 as standard.

I also have an '06 3.5L Charger now with 47k miles. The same problem (wouldn't advance beyond 2nd gear and no autostick capability) just happened to me about an hour ago. I've since dropped it off at the shop but am fearing a blown transmission.
June 2008. My 2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500 / 2007 Winnebago View has suffered its 2nd turbo resonator failure with ~2,200 miles between the 1st and 2nd failures. The first failure was shortly after I bought the vehicle last summer. The resonator was replaced with the manufacturer's part Rev AB.

I bought a 2004 Dodge RAM 2500 with a 3" lift kit, Quad Cab, short bed, 4X4, 5.6L Diesel in March of 2006 with a $2,700 Extended service contract. 2 weeks later "new steering box" 43,000 miles - long story short I just had the 4th steering box installed and the steering is still not right.
Remove plastic cowling from dash (Haynes manual useful). Unplug and remove gage cluster. Unscrew circuit board and flip over. Where wiring harness plugs into gage cluster, see if ground pin all the way at the end has a circular crack in the solder. If it does, resolder it.
Disconnect the battery and let the electronics reset. Make sure you've got the radio code close by so you can program that in when you reconnect the battery. Another way worth a try : Fold a paper, hold one end & put the other end 3 to 4" into the slot, then press Load or Eject CD button.
