On 2 May, Malaysia reported its first case of the Indian variant of COVID-19 from an Indian national who had landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. On 4 May, 17 new clusters were identified in Sarawak, Johor, Kedah, Labuan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak and Sabah.
