The event included eleven matches that each resulted from scripted storylines. Before the event went live on pay-per-view, Goldust defeated Stevie Richards in a match aired live on Sunday Night Heat. The show began with Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler until Tazz and Michael Cole said they deserved to call Vengeance just as much as Ross and Lawler should.
