I really notice the Reddit ‘bubble’ in the specifics of my news consumption at times. The way the ground app aggregates and classifies along bias feels like a game changer in terms of contextualising what I’m seeing. And it’s fun juxtaposing the particular spin of articles, depending on bias. Some of the comparisons are fuckin wild.
However, Google News does pay out some share of revenue to outlets it pilfers. I don’t know if Ground News does the same. Also, AFAIK Google News simply carries other companies’ content. Ground News changes it significantly by running it through AI generation.
Ground News measures bias as deviation from the Enlightened Centrist "least biased" (i.e. both-sidesist corporate centrist) party line. Having a perspective other than Enlightened Centrism is considered bias by definition by Ground News. And the left extreme of what they can imagine is still liberal centrism.
If Ground New is clearly understood (and marketed) as the latter then it might be useful. However, Ground News marketing tagline is "The biggest source for breaking news around the world.
