1. komeau • 2 yr. ago. Both cars are quite different, they don't share body panels and close up are rather unique looking. The most obvious difference, besides things like unique tail lights, is the spoiler on the Superbird sits a bit further up, on the Charger Daytona it's nearly on the edge of the body. You can tell this on the HW castings. 2.
The Plymouth Superbird was a highly modified, short-lived version of the Plymouth Road Runner with well-known graphics and horn sound. It was the factory's follow up stock car racing design, for the 1970 season, to the Dodge Charger Daytona of 1969, and incorporated many engineering changes and modifications (both minor and major) garnered from ...

The Superbird’s beak isn’t as pointed and its rear spoiler leans back quite a bit more than the Daytonas. Apparently Plymouth’s stylists thought it looked better. Although shaped differently, the nosecones of both cars are sheet metal with fiberglass headlight covers and aluminum rear spoilers.
The aerodynamic engineers warned Plymouth that it wasn't going to be anywhere near as easy to get a winged car with the Plymouth. Plymouth went ahead and had Creative Industries [the group that built the Daytona's for Dodge] hang a nose on the front and put a wing on the rear of a stock Belvedere [the Plymouth B-body, on which the Road Runner ...

So I was doing some research on the 1969 dodge charger Daytona and the 1970 Pontiac Superbird. And my question here is, why are Superbirds selling for so much more than chargers? It looks to me like the Superbirds sell for or are listed at 800k, while the Daytonas are closer to 300k. But as far as production goes, there was a lot more ...
I'm not a fan of these challenger kits to turn them into superbirds cause for one it looks bad imo and for two the challenger shouldn't be the one receiving the kit it should be the charger for accuracy but it's obvious why not and three it should be a daytona not a superbird since the cars being used are dodge.
The Superbird was based on the Roadrunner as Plymouth's answer to the Dodge Charger Daytona, Ford Torino, and Mercury Cyclone during the Nascar "aero wars". The manufacturers started using better aerodynamics to perform better on Nascar superspeedways in the late 1960s. After Ford came out with their stuff, Dodge came out with the Charger 500 ...
